The Question that Demands an Answer

In an era where open debate is severely restricted in the traditional media, it is refreshing to consider the recent exchange between two well known titans of thoughtful reason. However, you feel about their individual politics, you should ponder the questions that are presented. In Scott McConnell's, An Open Letter to David Horowitz on the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict, to the essay by Mr Horowitz: Why Israel Is The Victim And The Arabs Are The Indefensible Aggressors In the Middle East; we have the makings of a very worthy discussion.

Supreme Justice from a Court?

Well, this may be the season for the long rumored retirements from the Supreme Court. As speculation grows, and factions position themselves to go to battle, will confirmation hearings turn into the Borking of another jurist or two? With the prospects of another shameful saga, one might imagine that the majority on such a court could pick the next president! Appointees for life become entrenched political creatures - who would think it possible? It seems like the liberals, and those who claim to be progressive, are determined to forestall anybody remotely tainted with that conservative label. For these groups, a strict constructionist is anyone who can read the text of a law and rules on its constitutionality based upon the original document. Far too dangerous to have such judges elevated to the top court.

State Sponsored Assassination Culture

The ongoing failures of the Secret Service to provide proper protection for the President have political careerists in a tizzy. Scares that harm could come to the commander-in-chief, also worries the press. Ordinary citizens on principle, accept that the White House should be secure grounds. Rotating blame usually means that the buck does not stop on the oval office desk. Indeed, who could expect any President to be responsible for their own safety? Surely, policy decisions made as a government could not possibly have any bearing on the lunatics that harbor ill will towards our fearless leaders.

Hillary Express Hits a Wall

What can be written about Hillary Clinton that has not already been said? HilLIARy fatigue is natural, but ignoring all the lies and sleaze becomes the first goal of her 2016 presidential campaign. What is clear during the preliminary posturing is that hubby “Big Dog” Bill’s practice of trolling for bitches in heat will dominate the coverage. Poor old Hillary, a pureblood victim among mix breeds. The pretense that she continues in a loving marriage is about as insulting to the voters as the perverse behavior of either of the Clintons.

Fear of America First by GOP Establishment

“It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, it was the season of Light, it was the season of Darkness, it was the spring of hope, it was the winter of despair, we had everything before us, we had nothing before us, we were all going direct to heaven, we were all going direct the other way - in short, the period was so far like the present period, that some of its noisiest authorities insisted on its being received, for good or for evil, in the superlative degree of comparison only”, is just as true today about the true conservative movement as it was back in Charles Dickens, A Tale of Two Cities, era.

The Cowardly Congress and the Tyrannical President

One way to look at the artificial conflict over the debt ceiling theater is in terms of Gypsy Rose Lee doing the striptease fan dance. The beltway burlesque script is designed never to solve real problems. Give the public a glimmer of desire by way of a glimpse of fantasy. The dream of financial sanity and government responsibility is as remote as integrity from the political class. At the core of the two-step is a fundamental dishonesty about changing much less reforming the way business is conducted in the age of totalitarian collectivism. Now, this is entertainment if the dire consequences were not so profound.

FBI back to old tricks

Are you a supporter of the FBI? Certainly this need not be an either or question, but in today’s world of litmus tests, the room for selective approval has become marginal. Most would concede that there can be a legitimate role for a domestic investigative agency. But when one accepts this basic principle, that the central government has a justifiable function to conduct national law enforcement, the slippery slope of civil liberty abdication begins. The final culmination, when the avalanche strips the last remains of constitutional protections, is a police state.

When Old Time Radio Reigned

The 40’s and 50’s seem like a time from another life. Most audiences remember that era only as part of a history lesson. The “Golden Age of Radio” is long gone, but for anyone who has the chance to listen to the programs that entertained an entire nation, the lessons of that time are self revealing. Jack Benny’s life was as assessable as a close member of your own family. Fibber McGee was always living the Life of Riley, as Our Miss Brooks readied herself for another Burns and Allen visit. The Inner Sanctum was an inviting place for the likes of Boston Blackie, Johnny Dollar and Sam Spade. The Shadow was always lurking for Superman or the Green Hornet as the Whistler tune is heard in the background.

Voter Fraud Inevitable from Digital Elections

Technology changes, while human nature remains constant. Voter fraud is a repetitive part of the election experience. The lack of integrity in voting procedures, and more importantly the ballot counting process, causes the gravest concerns and casts substantial doubt on the legitimacy of the entire political system. Eight years ago in a different presidential cycle, the article 2004 - a time to go fishing, asks why do people tolerate this tainted and pseudo election process.

Gun Self-Defense is a Natural Right

The confusion that exists in today’s mercurial society is a direct result of not understanding the nature of individual human rights. All valid authority is based upon willing consent. The cornerstone of human being personhood is the inalienable right of self-defense. This indisputable principle is under attack on all fronts by the “Politically Correct” authoritarians who see the individual as an inconvenient impediment to their bizarre vision of a social order based upon compelled obedience to a global agenda of destructive myths and false promises of a utopian world.

Why Supreme Court Selections are a False Choice

The commotion over the nominations of John Roberts and Harriet Miers avoid the central problem with the Supreme Court.  Judicial review in its pure raw form is a guaranteed formula for state sponsored terrorism.  Under the fig leaf of law, the court manufactures excuses for the state to use force and intimidation to compel, coerce and control society for the benefit of the central government.  Is there any question that Supreme Court jurists are government employees?  Of course not, so why is it automatically assumed that black robed magistrates serve the cause of justice when their rulings practice the art of the magician.  Perfecting tricks of deception and canonizing their illusion as settled law is like announcing to the public that your life and liberty are arbitrary and contingent upon the “good will” of the sacred master of power.

CAFTA: Wall Street vs Main Street

Have you heard of CAFTA - Central America Free Trade Accord? Well, if you are glued to the 24 hour news cycle, you still might have missed that this agreement is starting to move on the fast track. But for those who are familiar with this extension of the NAFTA disaster, south of the Mexican border, you might wonder where are the voices of mainstream conservatives? The noise that does exist, mostly comes out of the “progressive” left, if not the liberal side of the Congressional aisle. How come?

Security is a state of mind

Look at the chart of the major Intelligence Community agencies. Your government provides links to each in order to share information about each organization. Missing from the FBI site is reference to the new role that President Bush is proposing for this Bureau. Internal Security sounds like a goal that citizens should eagerly support, but like any function that seems sensible, the devil is always in the details.

The Euro Makes All Things Possible!

Euro, Euro, Euro all around, but not a pence of 'real money', to spend. With these euro notes of this common currency, the wire services heap praise on its successful launch. The wheels of business and the mechanism of finance are all in gear to usher in this brave new world of commerce. For years we have heard the benefits of the first united coinage since the Roman Empire and the elimination of the chaos of individual currencies. So what will this conversion mean for Europe and the rest of the world?

Campus Book Burning Nazis

Academia has reached a new low. The fabric of scholarship has been attacked from within and defenders of Free Speech are nowhere to be found from the University hierarchy. Has anything been learned since the heady days of 1960’s campus confrontations? It seems that the only learning process that has survived is that the caliber of intellectual acumen has sunk into the thrones of totalitarian hysteria. A refresher course is needed for all those too young to recall the Origin of Free Speech Movement at Berkeley celebrated 50 years later.

BP – Beyond Petroleum = Big Trouble

The public relations television campaign states that BP now means beyond petroleum no longer appears on air. British Petroleum inescapably and unremittingly is now linked as the culpable corporate criminal of the greatest man made environmental disaster of all time. As confusing as the catastrophe seems, no one can reasonably deny the danger the Gulf of Mexico region has already suffered. The only unanswered aspect is how much more damage will migrate from beyond the drilling blow out.

Corporate Cronyism: Solyndra and Evergreen Solar

If pleading the "Fifth" smells, the Solyndra drama will prove the stereotype applies in this instance. A good old-fashioned scandal in an election year pumps up the media juices. The timeline on Solyndra tells only part of the history. The linkage of corporate cronyism dodges the real world result of "Green Energy" frauds. These shams can be traced back to the Enron schemes, especially their industrial wind model that defrauds the public.

Defense Cuts and the Global Empire

The fundamental distinction between a legitimate national defense and an aggressive global garrison imperium, escapes the political elites. The War Party’s entrenched power and control of their egocentric internationalist foreign policy, endangers the country. Military expenditures have increased substantially this century with little regard to The Real Threat to National Security. The "War on Terror" is a tired excuse that keeps precision smart weapon dominance deployed, which shells suspect bombers with impunity. The technologists that develop and refine methods for more efficient killing machinery hardly earn the honor - defenders of the nation.

Generals don’t make good Presidents

At the outset, only George Washington and Andrew Jackson were inspired presidents. Dwight David Eisenhower was at his best on the golf course. Taylor, Hayes, Arthur and Harrison aren’t known by most, while US Grant is remembered for his corrupt administration. So what would make any sensible citizen think that General Wesley K. Clark could ever aspire to be on the staff of Douglas MacArthur?

Was Dr Kelly - Vince Fostered?

This time all those conspiracy nuts started their swim from the other side of the pond. We all know that the English are surely above intrigue and sinister deeds, just ask Roberto Calvi, you know “God’s Banker”, as he hung from Blackfriars Bridge. All those suspect and secret financial dealings with the Vatican had the Holy See distance themselves from the ‘suicide’ back in 1987.  That collapse of Banco Ambrosiano and subsequent fraudulent-bankruptcy surely couldn’t involve American Archbishop Paul Marcinkus, then president of the Institute for Religious Works (IOR), the official name of the Vatican bank. Amazing that the official story of Calvi’s death was finally rejected as the real cause of his fate.
