Missing from the FBI site is reference to the new role that President Bush is proposing for this Bureau. Internal Security sounds like a goal that citizens should eagerly support, but like any function that seems sensible, the devil is always in the details.

A Bubble Ready to Pop?

A storm is on the horizon.  Just because it’s another hurricane season, the tempest ready to engulf will not be tracked by eyes in the skies.  A forecast for this whirlwind won’t be made on the weather channel or by a meteorologist.  The climate that triggers this downpour is financial.  The causes for this calamity have been brewing for decades.  The major fronts that push the airstreams toward disaster are well known.  Balance of trade deficits, federal debt financed by foreigners, soaring government liabilities, loss of viable wages for domestic employment and offshore exodus of any job that improves the bottom line of transnational corporations.  But have you heard of the other gusts that will blow your house down?

Supreme Court

This is a country of laws!  Or so it is said.  If that really was the case, judges would be rightly held in esteem.  But what we have is a judiciary hell bent on changing society, in spite of what the law says and means.  In order to understand the plight we live under, read carefully the Inherent Autonomy essay - Why Supreme Court Selections are a False Choice.  Chief Justice John Marshall relegated individual States to second class municipalities, now Judge Samuel Alito will carry on the ignominious tradition that will elevate the Federal Government to even a higher dominance of legalized tyranny.  The selection of Alito will satisfy most of America.  Certainly the Democrats have resigned themselves to his ultimate confirmation.  The Senate confirmation hearings are hardly the ideological battle blood sport some expected.

Simone de Beauvoir: feminist vs. revelation

Known typically for her association with Jean Paul Sartre, Simone de Beauvoir exerted an enduring influence upon modern day feminism. "One is not born, but rather becomes a woman" is the primal theme in The Second Sex. Some may not deem her a major philosopher, but to humanists, socialists and Marxists, she is an original thinker.  Philippe Knab deduces that in the Second Sex, “firstly, she put forward a series of empirical claims about women as the Other, that is, about what the role gender played in her society.  Secondly, she puts forward a philosophical argument for why sexism is wrong.  Clearly, the validity of the empirical part of the argument depends on one's historical cultural background.  Some contemporary readers might feel inclined to discard Beauvoir’s feminism altogether because they do not recognize themselves or their society in her argument.

CIA = Murder Inc.

The motives behind the expose report on CIA practices of torture misses the critical issue surrounding the “Agency”. Most Democrats and many left wing partisans enjoy pointing the dagger at George W. While the first family of fascist facilitators are certainly an indefensible clan of criminals, the essential element about the Central Intelligence Agency is that gathering and interrupting clandestine tradecraft, produces little effect to enhance an American First foreign policy.

Only a fool, translation - LIBERAL; would think the real danger in losing our privacy comes from the current threat of terrorists, and deny that government is the 'Big Terror'. When our modern day, John Reed claims that "a majority of Americans who are willing to trade a portion of their privacy for better security", shows how much he fails to understand the American experience. Majorities have no legitimacy for voluntary giving away of RIGHTS. People accept abuses out of their laziness to resist and a frustration that they can't stop the juggernaut of the tyrant. But the mindset of the Liberal sees no problem with marching to the tune of Ein Sohn des Volkes will ich sein und bleiben (I want to Be and remain a Son of the People).

Third Parties

Since the Nation was formed as a Republic, underlying principles of Democracy have been hailed as the bedrock expression of authority. The practice of one man, one vote; evolved into the basis of legitimacy, as the consent of the citizen was registered for their form of government. With the creation of political parties, the organization of public power was instituted. Parties became the repository for election seekers to gain office. They also developed into organizations where patronage was gained, policies could be influenced and access to political favors could be secured. The duopoly rivalry that emerged over the centuries, grew from the reality of being 'in or out' of power, more than deep seeded ideological principles. For in its bare raw brute reality, politics is about power. How you get it, what you do when you have it, and how you keep it.

CNN is pure party line propaganda in most instances, but the relentless emphasis that Dobbs is placing on the sell out of America is right on the mark.
